Chiropractic Tip of the Month: Avoiding getting bent out of shape

When you are sitting at your desk avoid sitting with your legs crossed or leaning to one side (the tendency is to lean towards the hip closest to your mouse arm). Think of sitting evenly on your pelvic bones with both feet on the ground and knees at ninety degrees. Sitting on a ball at your work station for maximum 20 minutes at a time can help teach you to sit properly.

Naturopathic Tip of the Month: A Homeopathic Alternative To The
Flu Shot IS available!

If you’re feeling uncomfortable or pressured into taking the flu shot or H1N1 vaccine this fall, you will be happy to know that an alternative does exist.

The homeopathic program involves varying doses of Thymuline and Influenzinum (both homeopathics are available at larger health food stores and through your Naturopathic Doctor (ND)) throughout the fall months (Nov- May) in order to protect you from viral respiratory conditions through the winter.

Working with your Naturopathic Doctor on a schedule designed for you can give you a safe and effective alternative to the traditional flu shot which may contain toxic mercury and aluminum. Visit your ND for further information on how this flu shot alternative may benefit you and your family this winter.

Helping Mother Earth:

Each of us can play a part in achieving a better world. You and your family can take small steps to reduce the size of your carbon footprint. A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced. Greenhouse gases are the main cause of global warming.

These easy options will make a difference:

1. Wash your laundry in cold water.
2. Buy local produce that was not trucked great distances or flown to the store.
3. Walk or ride your bike instead of driving when possible.
4. Buy appliances and lightbulbs with a low energy use rating.
5. Plant a tree. They filter pollution from the air and help recycle water.
6. Don’t use a screen saver, set your computer monitor to turn off automatically.
7. Consider installing a solar panel water heater.
8. Turn down the thermostat in winter and up in the summer by just a few degrees.
9. Take a train or bus rather than drive or fly on short domestic trips.
10. Recycle as much as possible and compost food waste.

When it comes to the environment, each thing we do counts. What one thing will you do today?
