Chiropractic Tip of the Month: Sitting on the Job
Too much sitting in one spot day-after-day can lead to tail bone pain and discomfort. This can lead to back pain or pain in the buttocks and thighs and even make standing painful. Chiropractors often recommend a variety of adjustments and special exercises for this uncomfortable condition. Areas other than the tailbone may also need adjustment to bring the body’s joints back into proper alignment. Stretching exercises can increase mobility and help in reducing tail bone pain.
Prevention of future problems includes adopting good work habits such as getting up every half hour or so from your desk and doing a simple stretching exercise. Investigate other contributing factors: Check to see if your chair needs adjusting. Can you improve your office temperature and lighting to make you more comfortable? What can you do to reduce the stress and muscle tension caused by deadlines? Ongoing chiropractic care for the underlying structural problems is important for keeping yourself pain-free.

Naturopathic Tip of the Month: GARLIC- Excellent for Lung Health
Our lungs need extra care coming in the winter season. Especially for those whose suffer with sore throats, bronchitis, sinusitis and colds/flu each year. Below is a recipe designed to make taking regular garlic cost effective and tasty. Take 1 tbsp 3x per day throughout the fall and winter to help keep the lungs/sinus’ strong and to fight infection
Garlic Syrup:
- put approx 10 heads (or 80 cloves) of crushed garlic in a 1 litre jar
- Almost fill with 50:50 apple cider vinegar and water
- Cover and leave for a few days, shaking occasionally
- Strain liquid with a cloth, add 1 cup of honey, stir and keep in refrigerator for up to 1 year
Consult with your Naturopathic Doctor to have an immune protocol designed specifically to your needs to prevent illness this winter.

Maternity Leave Notice & Introducing a new RMT:
Please note that Maggie Seegmiller, RMT, will be starting her maternity leave on Monday October 13 and returning to part-time massage therapy practice on Tuesday March 2, 2010. Lucy Tumolo, RMT, will be covering Maggie's maternity leave (Mon-Fri) until March 1 and then will be joining the clinic on a part-time basis.
Lucy graduated from Kikkawa College in 2008 and has since then gained specialties in Trigger point therapy, Myofacial release, Swedish Deep Tissue and Neuromuscular Therapy.
She believes that massage therapy is an interactive process between the therapist and client. She uses her communication skills to gain the best understanding of what her client’s needs are, and to make sure that those needs are met.
In addition to massage, she finds interest in bellydancing, hula hooping, hiking, running, biking, spinning, yoga and continuing education to improve her career.
