Chiropractic Tip of the Month: Headache Solutions

A tension headache is the most common type of headache. It is normally characterized by dull, mild to moderate pain and usually feels like there is a tight band around the head. Instead of reaching for a pain killer at the first sign of a headache, give these home remedies and lifestyle preventions a try:

Stress Management – Try cutting unnecessary stress out of your day by planning ahead. Give yourself more time to accomplish tasks, and when stress sneaks up on you without warning, step back and allow your emotions to diffuse.

Muscle Relaxation – Loosen up tight muscles with some heat. Try a hot water bottle, heating pad, or warm cloth. A hot shower may also do the trick. Massage therapy can do wonders for muscle tension.

Perfect Your Posture – Decrease the amount of strain on your muscles that support your head and entire body by improving your posture so that you can move easily, and without pain. Try this for better posture: push your shoulders back and down, hold your head high, pull your abdomen and buttocks in, and tuck in your chin.

Chiropractic Care - Spinal adjustments to restricted neck joints can restore normal neck range of motion, reduce neck tension and stimulate healing within the nervous system.

Naturopathic Tip of the Month: Food for Thought

‘If the grass looks greener, fertilize your side.’

Reiki Tip of the Month: Honest Feedback

Appearing healthy, with fixed attention to a well defined physique, and being healthy are not one in the same. Psychologically, physically and environmentally, health should be assessed from an objective standpoint.

How effective is your health program?

Here are four questions you can ask yourself about your practice:

  • Digestive elimination: How efficiently does your body eliminate waste?
  • Are you calm and focused under pressure?
  • Are you easily adaptable to changes in your environment? This includes changing of seasons.
  • How often do you get sick? And when you do get sick, how quickly do you recover?

My courses and treatments offer a practical approach to health that is honest and effective.
