Stretching Pectoral Muscles Helps Reduce Mid-back Discomfort.
Sitting in a slouched position in front of your computer/television or driving will inadvertently force your shoulders forward, shorten your pectoral muscles and overstretch the muscles between your spine and shoulder blades (rhomboid and levator scapulae muscles).
A great stretch to remedy this problem: clasp your hands behind your back and pull your elbows together widening the front of your chest. Hold this position for 3-5 deep breaths.
Chiropractic adjustments are also helpful in reducing the tension between the shoulder blades as well as stretching the associated tight muscles.
